“And suddenly you know: It’s time to start something new and trust the magic of beginnings.” – Meister Eckhart
For anyone who does not know me, my name is Dean, I am the newly appointed Pioneer Youth Worker for Crumlin Youth For Christ. The job title sounds fancy, but it really just means that I am the first youth worker to be fully focused on Crumlin!
The project officially kicked off on Monday the 3rd of September 2018. However, there were years of praying, years of thinking, years of work going on behind the scenes – by Youth For Christ NI, the local community and of course, God. All of a sudden, what was talked about, has become visible on the ground in Youth For Christ’s latest project- Crumlin Youth For Christ. Something new is beginning in Crumlin, we don’t just trust the magic of new beginnings, we trust the God of new beginnings!
Crumlin Youth For Christ seeks to reach young people in Crumlin and the wider area who are beyond the reach of the local churches. We want ‘to impact an unreached generation of young people for Jesus, working with local churches, partners and the community; to see young people across Northern Ireland experience, share and be transformed by the love of God, and reach their full potential; physically, emotionally, educationally and spiritually.’

Having volunteered with Youth For Christ in Drop-in centre settings, with the NOMAD Cage Football and Summer teams I have seen the heart of YFC. It is to see a lost generation of young people know Jesus, and His transformative power. At the core of YFCNI is the goal to see each young person develop and reach their full potential. These are central to my own youth work practice and align themselves with my passions.
